Online Colleges: Good or Bad?
51Are Online Universitys, Colleges, and Correspondence schools safe for our society? Online schools provide easy access to your education. You dont have to travel long distances or use any gas to get your education. You can do it on your own time, at your own pace and in the comfort of your own home. All these things are very nice and seem very "attractive" However, in the long run, are you really getting a good education? How much can you learn on your own? Without the teacher there to help you along or explain in person. Even better, who is to say the person whos name is on all the material is even doing the work at all? So these online colleges are giving out certificates, associates degress, bachelor degrees, and often a masters degree as well, and they dont even know who completed the course. Do we really want people who are working as our medical billers, our legal secretaries, our childrens psychologist, or even our dogs vet to be able to recieve their degree from an online college? It would be very easy for "Jane" to register for all the online classes, get the material, and pay the money to become a vet assistant and have her sister "Judy" who is already a vet or vet assistant to do all her work for her. Nobody would ever know. So should online colleges really be accredited?? I think not! I do know it can be a big help to moms, or other busy people, but it is also a great disadvantage to the people who could be messed up medically due to an un trained person.
